Razon's

razons

I have always heard about Razon's fine Pampanga dishes. Coming from a Capampangan heritage, we have always adored food and yes, I have been surronded by good cooks and have eaten in a couple of bountiful family get togethers. The leche flan was one of my favorite. My grandma would make dozens of them for Christmas and New Year. My grandpa (bless his soul), makes the best bopis I have ever tasted. Nothing would compare to how he prepares that dish.

Right after my birthday, we went to MoA just to look around, as I wanted to go out. I saw Razon's as we were thinking of watching a movie and somehow persuaded my friends to try the place out. Since we are all full from my feast, we had Halo-Halo which was their best seller. Their Halo-Halo was not at all like Chowking's. You'd probably think that it was expensive for P60 with only few toppings, but wait till you taste the fusion of all those sweets, you'd definitely agree with me that it was worth it. Their Halo-Halo is composed of minatamis na saging, garbansos, beans and macapuno topped with leche flan.

I have watched a documentary about Halo-Halo before made by Jessica Soho. She compared the Halo-Halo's made from different regions in our country. I distinctly remember the the ssecret to Razon's Halo-Halo was the leche flan since they claim that there is an art in beating and cooking it. It's simplicity has certainly earned its fame.

My Birthday Feast

I turned 22 but I don't feel like it. It's nice to celebrate when your not expecting anything. I guess I have grown up a little. My feast was courtesy of the people close to. I didn't spend anything for it, well except for the Pepsi.Hehe.

My grandma's lumpia is one of the dishes we look forward to every family event. It is always the first to go. I have learned how it was made but I know I can't perfect it as how she prepares it. Our Bar-b-q was special, you just can;t get enough of it. It's sweet and tasty and tender all at the same time. Just ask my friends and they would tell you how they fell gaga over it. I had three types of cakes for my birtday. Ain't I special? My baby bought me the Black Forest Cake from Red Ribbon and i know how my mom loved that. My mom bought the Crema de Fruta from Goldilocks, and my beshies bought me the triple treat with matching candles(deliberately telling me that I am 22.I actually stopped counting at 16.hehe) also from Goldilocks.

Di' Marks

D'Marks4 D'Marks5 D'Marks3
D'Marks2 D'Marks1

We dined at Di'Marks last night instead of watching The Break Up. The placed was packed on a wednesday night and we thought we wouldn't be able to find a seat. Luckily there was one table available reight beside a group of old men who where there for their alumni. They were talking pretty loud for you not to know what the occassion was all about. Jon Archabal was part of the group.(hehe!wala lang.)

Di'Marks is one cozy restaurant, as what I've read they are famous for their wines, but since I don't drink liquors, we didn't try them. We had a medium sized Triple Treat pizza whick costs about P385.00.The pizza was crunchy at the bottom which makes it difficult to slice. But all in all the pizza tasted great and the hot sauce was so spicy I didn't dare try it again. For our drinks we had manggo shake(P80.00) and Vanilla milk shake(P125.00). They used manggo puree instead of real manggoes for their shake and asked if that was ok for us. I'm not really a perfectionist about fruit juices, as long as it tasted good and is sweet enough for my taste then that's ok, besides you can never go wrong using a manggo puree. The vanilla milk shake tasted like vanilla ice cream.(Just stating the obvious.)

We ordered the Chocolate Ice Box Fudge(P100.00) for dessert. This dessert was one of the best fudge I have tasted. Mike said it was like chocolate mousse on a cup. It was like a mixture of chocolate fudge and chocolate ice cream blended well together. The only jist about it is that it was so small and so sweet and the cherry on top wasn't that good either. I have tasted cherries before and have liked them but that one last night tasted like it was kept too long before it was served.Needless to say I spit it out after biting into it and tasted how it was. Service have some flaws too, we left the our packed pizza left over on our table and no one ran after us for it.

Chef D' Angelo

Chef1 Chef2 Chef4

It was only this year that I have learned about Chef D' Angelo. (Yes, I'm for Loserville). My officemates and I decided to have our lunch out there. Instead of ordering platters, we decided to get different meals and share them amongst ourselves. Diane was the one who decided on what to get since she seemed too familiar of their menu. We ordered the Great White Pizza, Oven Baked Ziti and Red Ice tea.

We were lucky enough that the place wasn't packed considering that it was lunch time. The Great White Pizza which costs about P178.00 is composed of bacon, shrimps, mushrooms with garlic over Alfredo sauce. It was very delicious for a red sauce lover like me.The seafood, the mushroom, the garlic and the meat blended well together and is not overpowering. The Oven Baked Ziti which(P130) on the other hand, was just plain ok. The Red Ice tea was very very sweet. Quite tolerable but very sweet. It would be nice if they lessen the sugar a little. Chef is one great place to dine in with friends and family since you get great food at a reasonable price.

Corregidor Inn Lunch Buffet

corinn7corinn2 corinn6
corinn5 corinn3 corinn4

After the first half our day tour, we headed to the Corregidor Inn to grab some lunch. We sat in the terrace so that we can have a good view of that side of the island. The Inn is located at the head of the island and the restaurant is the the 2nd floor. So I can say we had a good view from the top. We headed to the lunch table where they served five dishes. They served rice, mashed potato topped with bacon bits, chopped pork liempo, steamed vegetables and chicken adobo with coconut milk(i think). We got small servings of each dish. They also served soup and for dessersts they have sliced watermelons and pineapple and gellatin. The food was just ok.Acceptable to fill up a hungry stomach.I liked the liempo coz it was so juicy and tasty. The chicken was ok, but it lacks flavor.the vegetable dish was composed of diced i dont know, baguio beans and corn. i only ate the beans and corn. The soup tasted like "am" (the liquid you get from rice.this is often fed to babies) and i dont know. Later did I learn that it was vegetable soup. No wonder I hated it. The watermelon wasn't sweet. The cream on the gellatin was a threat to diabetics.I think it was made from cream and condensed milk. The gellatin was like what my mom usually makes at home.Mike mistook the pineapple in it for peaches. We got the buffet lunch which we think isn't worthit. We should have taken the plated lunch. You will definitely be hungry after the first half of the trip, be overwhelmed with the food, and eat less than what you aimed for to get your money's worth. You wouldn't want to stuff up with so much food since you're only given 45 minutes to eat.The welcome drink was good only when it's cold.It is pandan flavored drink with red gulaman. I suggest eat breakfast before the trip or bring snacks with you coz everything in the island was overpriced.I bought a small bag of piatos and a small bottle of mineral water for P36.00 each.My goodness.

Plato Platina

I have always wondered how great the food in t his place was, having read reviews about it.After our Corregidor trip, we headed straight to MoA for some food trip and to give my sweety his very late anniv gift. We went to Dermstrata for his facial treatment. After waiting for almost 2 hour, he came out blackhead free. His face was so red especially his nose and he said it was very painful.I just hope he liked how he looks now. After his facial, we went to Plato Platina which was just across Dermstrata.
We odered the "sumting-sumting" piccolo(hehe.i forgot the name) .It is an all-meat pizza that is topped with ham and sausage in a thin crust. We are no fan of thin crust coz it feels like eating meat topping on a cracker.A piccolo pizza is an 8 inch pizza which is the smallest in the menu but it is definitely good for 2-3 persons, depending on how much a person can eat.Nothing special about this pizza. It tasted like the pizza from pizza hut or shakeys.what I dont like about it is that it has a lot of peppers, mind you, it's not fine pepper but crushed peppercorns.I was unfortunate enough to have eaten it. I didn't see ut was that big.It must have been hidden beneath the toppings.

The main reason we chose Plato Platina was because of their infamous Lava Cake. It looked very delicious in the picture, but I was very disappointed when I tasted it. There's nothing special about. It is moist in the inside and crispy ooutside, but that's just it. Try to make a brownie out of those instant mix you get in the supermarket and you'll be able to get the same result. The strawberry ice cream in the center didn't help either. They usually serve vanilla but they ran out of it that day.We were given the choice of strawberry or vanilla, I should have picked chocolate. Oh well, so much for great expectations. The ambience of the place was nice. The resto looked intimidating though coz you'd get the impression that it is very chic and expensive. I suggest build up the courage to look at the menu before judging the resto of its price.

Dayrits

dayrits ice tea dayrits menu ice tea
roast beef platter bake mac

We went to Dayrits for dinner before watching Superman. My bestfriend and I have been to the place and had loved the food that I thought of bringing our friend there so that he could also experience eating there. We where supposed to do a food trip but knowing how big the serving are in that place, I was very sure that the food trip plan wouldn't pursue. Enri asked what tasted good and we immediately told him that the ice tea was heavenly.Hehe. We told him to get the Roast Beef Platter(P230), which was one of their bestsellers. It was just enough for his appetite. Miyey and I shared on a Roast Beef Platter and Bake Macaroni(P140).We all had ice tea for our drinks. The Roast beef was just enough for Miyey and me. We were already full but with the bake mac on the table, we know we had to finish it up since we paid for it. The Roast Beef Platter can go with bread or rice depending on what your choice is. It has baked potato with it that was topped with cheese and bacon bits and steamed veggies for its side dish. The bake mac is plain. Nothing special about it. Miyey said, the sauce of the bake mac tasted like her mom's afritada.hehe. Dayrits has been around for ages, since my mom told me she usually eats there back when she was in HighSchool and Miyey's parents always go there for their date. Hehe! It really was that old. Dayrits was at Buendia before but has moved to Magallanes a few years back.

Sizzling Plate

SP1 SP2SP3

When I was kid, I remeber going to SM to do our shopping or grocery and right after that, instead of the usual kiddie resto's(aka Jollibee and McDonald's), my mom would order our from from Sizzling Plate (main reason why I was fat). I grew up eating meals on big servings. My mom would always get me Salisbury or T-Bone Steak.

Our first dinner out after Enri arrived from Atlanta was at Sizzling Plate in MoA. He wanted to see the infamous mall, so we took him there. He had Pork Steaks and Miyey and I both ordered Sisig. The service was pretty bad, as they do not have soy sauce, and that their crew seemed too initimidated that they weren't that friendly at all even if you ask for somthing politely. Their sisig would kill you right after the first bite. It is too oily and too fatty. I knew of that already before ordering it but I just have that Sisig craving. Nothing really special about their meals. They seem to have lose the quality of their food and service as the years go by. What a shame.
