It was big enough for three people, much more with our appetite. But we have managed to squeeze everything in our tummy. hehe. The Spaghetti Plater was composed of Spaghetti, and Chip and Chix. We just loved their Mojo's and Dip specifically the Sour Cream. If Shakey's would lose their Mojo Potato then there wouldn't be any sense of going back. haha.

Cold Rock Ice Creamery

After dinner, we headed off to Greenbelt 3 to look for Cold Rock. I was quite surprised to see their price range which is quite expensive. . .way more expensive than Haagen Dazz. The kiddie cup which we had would cost about P99.75 for two scoops of ice cream. It was pretty small really but I just loved their selections... They have a lot of ice cream choices that would make you want to try them all. I very ecstatic to have find the ChocMint ice cream. I am very fond of Chocolate Mint. The last time I have tasted that was when I was a kid. My grandma bought one from the States and I so loved it. Back then, Duty Free had those Chocolate shaped into sea shells that have mint inside. Unfortunately, I cannot seemed to find them again. I was caught in between crossroads of deciding what flavor would go with my ChocMint..is it Chocolate or is it Bubble gum... I have finally decided to have Ferrero together with my ChocMint, since I'm afraid that the Bubblegum might over power the ChocMint and I wouldn't be able to enjoy. My baby had Low Fat Coffee and Rum and Raisin topped with White Chocolates. I chose Maltesers for my topping. In Cold Rock, you first choose what ice creams you would want and then choose the toppings next. Each topping would cost P25. My baby's ice cream was very refreshing and mild to the taste. I took one bite of my ChocMint and it felt so heavenly. It's like hearing the choir singing "Alleluia!". hehe..OA no?....But it really was that good. I mean, I am just so inlove with Chocolate Mint and was just overjoyed tasting it again. I told my baby to treat me there again for the ChocMint only until we could find a cheaper substitute for my Chocolate Mint craving....hehe

Cold Rock Ice Creamery

3rd level, Greenblet 3

beside Fuzion

www.coldrock.com.au

Gerry's Grill

After waiting for a couple of hours for my baby (i happened to arrived very earlt to work to meet some deadlines), we decided to meet up at Powerbooks in Greenbelt and have dinner together. I wanted to try out Cafe Via Mare in Landmark, but it was already closed. So we ended up at Gerry's to have our favorite beef casserole. Their beef casserole was very delicious as far as I could remember it. It is made up of sliced beef with mushroom gravy in it topped with mashed potato and garlic bits. It's not really mushroom gravy but that's how it tasted like. I don't if it's just me or there really is something wrong with their food. It seemed tasteless that night and I had to drizzle salt and maggi savor over it. I was thinking, maybe it was just me since I haven't got any decent sleep and was feeling very uncomfortable last night. We had garlic rice to go with the beef casserole. I wanted to try out their Calamares so we got one. Boy, was I surprised, for P125, we got a very few serving of the dish. We can't help but compare it to Dampa's Calamares. I mean we could have eaten a whole bunch if we got the Calamares there. Anyways, their dip was very good, in fact it was sweet and creamy. Once again, the Calamares seemed tasteless that I have to shower it with salt first before I dip it in the cream just so it could have some taste. My baby didn't seemed to mind, so again, maybe it was just me. I'd have to try it again when I'm feeling much better to be able to judge it well.

City Grill

for our monthsary, we headed for jupiter st. here in makati thinking that there would be a lot of good resto's that we can choose from. we went to shinjuku ramen house for some japanese food. the interior was close to being a school cafeteria. many japanese are dining at that moment which made me think that the place must really serve good japanese dishes.i was shocked seeing the price since it's totally off the roof.(i admit, kuripot ako.)plus, i would not pay 60 bucks for a cup of plain rice. i told my sweety to just order some gyoza for take out and look for another restaurant to dine in.

I convinced them in trying it though it is kindda expensive for a scoop since Enri has been raving how he went ballistic with Ben and Jerry's when he was deployed in Atlanta a couple of month's ago. After trying to cover Mall of Asia, we headed for Sheper's staff. they didn't have the manggo sansrival and the other chocolate flavor ice cream so we where left with three choices. We got one of each kind and was seated at the corner.

Armi had the Chocoholic which was so good.. it tasted like deep dark sweetened chocolate cake.it was an overload of chocolate flavours bursting in your mouth.Truly one made out perfectly for a chocoholic like us.

Enri had the Dublin Fudge. The peanut butter was not overpowering the chocolate which was the good thing about it.Each scoop costs about P60. you would have probably think twice since it's serving is very very small and i know you'd definitely get bigger scoop in Scoopery at a cheaper price but the taste of their ice cream was really exceptional.

(Although Armi still prefers Haagen Dazz over it ;P)

Alba's Restaurant

excuse me for the shallownes of this review as i have been typing the whole day creating and updating test cases. i have not also been able to get a good picture of the foods.the team that i had just transferred to finished the first phase of the project successfully thus gave them/us the reward of a free lunch out. we went to Alba's restaurant which was located at Polaris st., BelAir in Makati. The place was quite small, which can hold about 30-40 persons at a time. We had the lunch buffet which to what I heard costs about P500/head. The price was pretty big for a not so big eater like me. yeah, i may be fat but i don't eat a lot. anyways, parking was pretty bad since there really is n o parking space alloted for customers. so if the space in front of the restaurant is pack with cars already, the staff redirects you to the parking space of La Taverna which is out of business already, so they really won't mind. As you entered Alba's you are greeted by the front desk staff in English. I was hoping they would greet us in Spanish since it is a Spanish restaurant. The buffet table is set on a separate room (less the doors). The restaurant was like a house turned into a restaurant. the interior was very hispanic. the chairs were pretty high , or should i say, the table was pretty low. either way, it isn't that comfortable if your used to eating slouching your back because here you are inadvertently forced to eat with your back straight.if that is how they ate before, hands up to them. the girdles the illustrados wore must be pretty helpful for them to keep a good posture.

the appetizers were placed on the center in a round table. the choices there as far as i could remember are baked oysters, breads, butter, different spreads(cream cheese, cream cheese and mushroom...), jams, sweetened beans, omelets shaped into a big circle and sliced into bite size, banana cubes wrapped in bacon and cubed fish in cream sauce.i forgot to list their name, my bad. the entrees include seafood paella, lengua, lechon kawali, beef cooked like sarciado, fried chicken with vegetables and mash potato, and pasta in white sauce. the desserts are orange jelly, sliced watermelons and papaya, food for the god's and braso de mercedes without the flan in the center but replaced with condensed milk as its sauce.

I didn't like the oyster though it has so much cheese in it.i still prefer baked tahong over it.the appetizers were not that bad either, i just did not try the banana wrapped in bacon. the idea seemed pretty weird for my delicate tastebuds. the chicken was tasty even without the sauce. it was also too crispy that made it difficult to slice and chew.well atleast a part of it.the lechon kawali was very good. it was very crunchy and the fat really melts in every bite you wouldn't even hate it.hehe.i have this thing about pork fats, it should be cooked in such a way that i wouldnt recognized its fat because i don't eat it.it should blend with the meat without being noticed. the paella is not that flavorful. i have always liked paella and its sibling the arroz valenciana and for me this rice dish should be very powerful when it comes to flavor that you should forget you name in every bite.OA na..basta kelangan masarap. The pasta was very good.Salty and Cheesy and just plain delicious. First ever white sauce pasta i liked. for dessert, imagine braso de mercedes in a rectangular shape, like the cakes in Bakeshops, without the flan in the center instead you pour condensed milk on a slice and you eat it like that.

First picture was before we ate, the second one was after the empty plate was taken away.

Aside from the parking flaw, they did not placed napkins/tissue on out table and when they take your empty plate away, they leave behind the silverware on the table without any napkins or saucers to place it on. i find it very unhygeinic and very unethical.i dont really know the right word for it but it shouldn't be that way.

Alba's Restaurant
Polaris St. BelAir, Makati
http://www.alba.com.ph/branches.htm

Valle Verde Country Club

My boyfriend joined another poker tourney which was held at Valle Verde Country Club in Pasig. We arrived at about past 8. After he registered for the game, we ordered for our dinner. He had Sizzling Chicken which was grilled and deboned and served on a sizzling plate with Java rice and steamed vegetable.I had Chicken Barbeque which was also deboned and had atchara and Java rice.(You have to specify which rice you want to go with your meal.)The sizzling chicken was very juicy and tasty. The Barbq on the other hand was sweet. The Barbq comes with this special sauce which makes it sweeter. I tried having a bite of the Bbq without the sauce to see how it would taste like but came out with the conclusion that it really is best eaten with the sauce. Their java rice is not that oily and has ground pork and chopped bellpepper. Their ice tea may look tasteless like the one's of McDonald's, but it was very good. The serving was a bit slow. The place was so cold yet cozy enough to have your poker game with friends.I even saw the lead singer of Shamrock.hehe.Nope, no pics with him.Am not that type. The place was small and could accommodate at about 20 people or less. The tables and chairs were made of rattan, and they have a big flat screen tv that is stuck to Solar Sports the whole day.

Sbarro

My hun and I went to MoA for our weekly date. We were thinking of where to eat when he told me that he wanted to eat at Sbarro's. We ordered two slices of Meat Delight and Spagghetti in Meat Sauce. The Pizza was fantastic. It is just enough for my appettite and the additional pasta is truly an overkill. One thing I just don't like about the pizza is that it's crust is to crunchy at the bottom that makes it difficult to slice. I was used to eating my pizza with utensils when I reached HS. The pasta was a disappointment. The meat sauce was too bland that it lacks everything. The pasta wasn't drained well that most of the water blended with the flavorless sauce. The only good thing about the dish is the garlic bread. But no matter how good the bread was, it still couldn't save the disaster that was the pasta.

Sbarro
North Wing, MoA

Razon's

I have always heard about Razon's fine Pampanga dishes. Coming from a Capampangan heritage, we have always adored food and yes, I have been surronded by good cooks and have eaten in a couple of bountiful family get togethers. The leche flan was one of my favorite. My grandma would make dozens of them for Christmas and New Year. My grandpa (bless his soul), makes the best bopis I have ever tasted. Nothing would compare to how he prepares that dish.

Right after my birthday, we went to MoA just to look around, as I wanted to go out. I saw Razon's as we were thinking of watching a movie and somehow persuaded my friends to try the place out. Since we are all full from my feast, we had Halo-Halo which was their best seller. Their Halo-Halo was not at all like Chowking's. You'd probably think that it was expensive for P60 with only few toppings, but wait till you taste the fusion of all those sweets, you'd definitely agree with me that it was worth it. Their Halo-Halo is composed of minatamis na saging, garbansos, beans and macapuno topped with leche flan.

I have watched a documentary about Halo-Halo before made by Jessica Soho. She compared the Halo-Halo's made from different regions in our country. I distinctly remember the the ssecret to Razon's Halo-Halo was the leche flan since they claim that there is an art in beating and cooking it. I didn't spend anything for it, well except for the Pepsi.Hehe.

My grandma's lumpia is one of the dishes we look forward to every family event. It is always the first to go. I have learned how it was made but I know I can't perfect it as how she prepares it. Our Bar-b-q was special, you just can;t get enough of it. It's sweet and tasty and tender all at the same time. Just ask my friends and they would tell you how they fell gaga over it. I had three types of cakes for my birtday. Ain't I special? My baby bought me the Black Forest Cake from Red Ribbon and i know how my mom loved that. My mom bought the Crema de Fruta from Goldilocks, and my beshies bought me the triple treat with matching candles(deliberately telling me that I am 22.I actually stopped counting at 16.hehe) also from Goldilocks.

Di' Marks

We dined at Di'Marks last night instead of watching The Break Up. The placed was packed on a wednesday night and we thought we wouldn't be able to find a seat. Luckily there was one table available reight beside a group of old men who where there for their alumni. They were talking pretty loud for you not to know what the occassion was all about. Jon Archabal was part of the group.(hehe!wala lang.)

Di'Marks is one cozy restaurant, as what I've read they are famous for their wines, but since I don't drink liquors, we didn't try them. We had a medium sized Triple Treat pizza whick costs about P385.00.The pizza was crunchy at the bottom which makes it difficult to slice. But all in all the pizza tasted great and the hot sauce was so spicy I didn't dare try it again. For our drinks we had manggo shake(P80.00) and Vanilla milk shake(P125.00). They used manggo puree instead of real manggoes for their shake and asked if that was ok for us. I'm not really a perfectionist about fruit juices, as long as it tasted good and is sweet enough for my taste then that's ok, besides you can never go wrong using a manggo puree. The vanilla milk shake tasted like vanilla ice cream.(Just stating the obvious.)

We ordered the Chocolate Ice Box Fudge(P100.00) for dessert. This dessert was one of the best fudge I have tasted. Mike said it was like chocolate mousse on a cup. It was like a mixture of chocolate fudge and chocolate ice cream blended well together. The only jist about it is that it was so small and so sweet and the cherry on top wasn't that good either. I have tasted cherries before and have liked them but that one last night tasted like it was kept too long before it was served.Needless to say I spit it out after biting into it and tasted how it was. Service have some flaws too, we left the our packed pizza left over on our table and no one ran after us for it.

Chef D' Angelo

It was only this year that I have learned about Chef D' Angelo. (Yes, I'm for Loserville). My officemates and I decided to have our lunch out there. Instead of ordering platters, we decided to get different meals and share them amongst ourselves. Diane was the one who decided on what to get since she seemed too familiar of their menu. We ordered the Great White Pizza, Oven Baked Ziti and Red Ice tea.

We were lucky enough that the place wasn't packed considering that it was lunch time. The Great White Pizza which costs about P178.00 is composed of bacon, shrimps, mushrooms with garlic over Alfredo sauce. It was very delicious for a red sauce lover like me.The seafood, the mushroom, the garlic and the meat blended well together and is not overpowering. The Oven Baked Ziti which(P130) on the other hand, was just plain ok. The Red Ice tea was very very sweet. Quite tolerable but very sweet. It would be nice if they lessen the sugar a little. Chef is one great place to dine in with friends and family since you get great food at a reasonable price.

Chef D' Angelo
Upper Ground Floor, Glorietta 2

Corregidor Inn Lunch Buffet

After the first half our day tour, we headed to the Corregidor Inn to grab some lunch. We sat in the terrace so that we can have a good view of that side of the island. The Inn is located at the head of the island and the restaurant is the the 2nd floor. So I can say we had a good view from the top. We headed to the lunch table where they served five dishes. They served rice, mashed potato topped with bacon bits, chopped pork liempo, steamed vegetables and chicken adobo with coconut milk(i think). We got small servings of each dish. They also served soup and for dessersts they have sliced watermelons and pineapple and gellatin. The food was just ok.Acceptable to fill up a hungry stomach.I liked the liempo coz it was so juicy and tasty. The chicken was ok, but it lacks flavor.the vegetable dish was composed of diced i dont know, baguio beans and corn. i only ate the beans and corn. The soup tasted like "am" (the liquid you get from rice.this is often fed to babies) and i dont know. Later did I learn that it was vegetable soup. No wonder I hated it. The watermelon wasn't sweet. The cream on the gellatin was a threat to diabetics.I think it was made from cream and condensed milk. The gellatin was like what my mom usually makes at home.Mike mistook the pineapple in it for peaches. We got the buffet lunch which we think isn't worthit. We should have taken the plated lunch. You will definitely be hungry after the first half of the trip, be overwhelmed with the food, and eat less than what you aimed for to get your money's worth. You wouldn't want to stuff up with so much food since you're only given 45 minutes to eat.The welcome drink was good only when it's cold.It is pandan flavored drink with red gulaman. I suggest eat breakfast before the trip or bring snacks with you coz everything in the island was overpriced.I bought a small bag of piatos and a small bottle of mineral water for P36.00 each.My goodness.

Plato Platina

I have always wondered how great the food in t his place was, having read reviews about it.After our Corregidor trip, we headed straight to MoA for some food trip and to give my sweety his very late anniv gift. After waiting for almost 2 hour, he came out blackhead free. His face was so red especially his nose and he said it was very painful.I just hope he liked how he looks now. After his facial, we went to Plato Platina which was just across Dermstrata.
We odered the "sumting-sumting" piccolo(hehe.i forgot the name)
.It is an all-meat pizza that is topped with ham and sausage in a thin crust. We are no fan of thin crust coz it feels like eating meat topping on a cracker.A piccolo pizza is an 8 inch pizza which is the smallest in the menu but it is definitely good for 2-3 persons, depending on how much a person can eat.Nothing special about this pizza. It tasted like the pizza from pizza hut or shakeys.what I dont like about it is that it has a lot of peppers, mind you, it's not fine pepper but crushed peppercorns.I was unfortunate enough to have eaten it. I didn't see ut was that big.It must have been hidden beneath the toppings.

The main reason we chose Plato Platina was because of their infamous Lava Cake. It looked very delicious in the picture, but I was very disappointed when I tasted it. There's nothing special about. It is moist in the inside and crispy ooutside, but that's just it. Try to make a brownie out of those instant mix you get in the supermarket and you'll be able to get the same result. The strawberry ice cream in the center didn't help either. They usually serve vanilla but they ran out of it that day.We were given the choice of strawberry or vanilla, I should have picked chocolate. Oh well, so much for great expectations. The ambience of the place was nice. The resto looked intimidating though coz you'd get the impression that it is very chic and expensive. I suggest build up the courage to look at the menu before judging the resto of its price.

Dayrits

We went to Dayrits for dinner before watching Superman. My bestfriend and I have been to the place and had loved the food that I thought of bringing our friend there so that he could also experience eating there. We where supposed to do a food trip but knowing how big the serving are in that place, I was very sure that the food trip plan wouldn't pursue. Enri asked what tasted good and we immediately told him that the ice tea was heavenly.Hehe. We told him to get the Roast Beef Platter(P230), which was one of their bestsellers. It was just enough for his appetite. Miyey and I shared on a Roast Beef Platter and Bake Macaroni(P140).We all had ice tea for our drinks. The Roast beef was just enough for Miyey and me. We were already full but with the bake mac on the table, we know we had to finish it up since we paid for it. The Roast Beef Platter can go with bread or rice depending on what your choice is. It has baked potato with it that was topped with cheese and bacon bits and steamed veggies for its side dish. The bake mac is plain. Nothing special about it. Miyey said, the sauce of the bake mac tasted like her mom's afritada.hehe. Dayrits has been around for ages, since my mom told me she usually eats there back when she was in HighSchool and Miyey's parents always go there for their date. Hehe! It really was that old. Dayrits was at Buendia before but has moved to Magallanes a few years back.

Sizzling Plate

When I was kid, I remeber going to SM to do our shopping or grocery and right after that, instead of the usual kiddie resto's(aka Jollibee and McDonald's), my mom would order our from from Sizzling Plate (main reason why I was fat). I grew up eating meals on big servings. My mom would always get me Salisbury or T-Bone Steak.

Our first dinner out after Enri arrived from Atlanta was at Sizzling Plate in MoA. He wanted to see the infamous mall, so we took him there. He had Pork Steaks and Miyey and I both ordered Sisig. The service was pretty bad, as they do not have soy sauce, and that their crew seemed too initimidated that they weren't that friendly at all even if you ask for somthing politely. Their sisig would kill you right after the first bite. It is too oily and too fatty. I knew of that already before ordering it but I just have that Sisig craving. Nothing really special about their meals. They seem to have lose the quality of their food and service as the years go by. It has to taste good, meaning not tasteless,no vegetables and no liver.
My first attempt to taste an indian dish was in my huny's house. We ate lunch together and he poured a whole lot of rajma in my rice.Rajma is Red kidney beans curry. Why I don't like it?the taste is quite tolerable being spicy and all but what I can't stand about it is the smell. (No offense to all those who liked this dish) Rajma smells like a persons underarm who has not touched a deodorant for a month. I just can't stand it. I asked Mike how he was able to cope with the smell, he said that he was used to having that ever since he was a kid.

The Rajma experience just made me wonder what other Indian dishes tasted like. I was quite anxious about eating at Bollywood, but the thought of eating at an Indian restaurant was quite appealing to me. (I have to get used to the food someday right? ;>)

When you enter the restaurant, the crew would greet you "Namaste". Namaste is an Indian expression used as a greeting or upon parting, by putting the palms of the hands together in prayer position. It means, “I honor the Spirit in you which is also in me.” It could have been nicer if the staff wore traditional Indian costumes instead of a floral skirt an a shirt.Any ways, the interior was nice even if their place is small. Indian music is played live on a small stage at the corner of the bar, and Indian movies are played on LCD tv's.

While choosing the food that we would like to have, We were served with Papar and 3 types of dips.Papar is a type of bread that is thin and crunchy. It is quite spicy and I think it has beans on it.At a glance you would think that it would taste like the usual crackers that we have but Papar needs an acquired taste to appreciate it. The dips served to us was yogurt(white one), mango jam(i think),and spinach dip(green one). The papar goes well with the mango jam because the sweetness of the jam complements the spiciness of the bread. It also takes ok with the yogurt. The yogurt tastes like sour cream but not that tangy. We didn't like the green dip because it is very bitter.

For our drink, we ordered the mango lassi.i was quite hesitant to have it because I am not a big fan of yogurt but it tasted really good.Actually it tasted like mango shake without the ice but creamier. This was one really good. Mango Lassi:P115

We had Vegetable Samosa for our appetizer.Yup, vegetables. I was able to eat it because the only vegetables in this dish are potatoes, green peas and carrots. It's like empanada, less meat of course. Vegetable Samosa:P85

For the main course we had chicken baryani and chicken tandoori. Mike was supposed to get this lamb meatball thing, but I said I wanted to taste the Chicken Tandoori 'cause I always hear him saying how good it tasted whenever they have that for dinner at home. Chicken Biryani is a Pakistani/Indian rice dish which is often reserved for very special occasions such as weddings, parties, or holidays such as Ramadan.Biryani tasted like Arroz Valenciana. It has chicken parts in it and raisins, nuts and carrot strips. The carrot strips tasted good because it is sweet and cruncy at the same time.
Chicken Biryani:P355
On the menu you would see this dish as Chicken Tandoor, I asked Mike what was the proper term for it and he said that it was supposed to be Tandoori, since Tandoor is the oven in which you cook the chicken. This tasted like Chicken BBQ less sweetness and charcoal. :D Tandoori is meat marinated in yogurt and spices.
Chicken Tandoori(Quarter):P160

Our Bollywood experience though a bit expensive was perfect enough for our Fourth Anniversary dinner. I'd definitely go back to try other dishes. :)

Aling Lucing's

I am a great fan of sisig.I don't usually eat the fats, ears and organs of the pig, but with sisig, I can tolerate.Hehe.I have read a blog about different resto's to eat and places to go.One that caught my attention was Aling Lucing's, mainly because the blogger said that they serve the best sisig in town and thet they have very cheap prices. My officemates decided and I decided to have our lunch there and test whether the blogger's claims are true.We arrived at Aling Lucing's at exactly 12 in the afternoon. At that time the place was not yet that full.I tought maybe people don't really go to that place that much. But when we were all settled in our table, people came to rush in and a long cue of customers ordering their lunch would be seen. The place looks like your school cafeteria.I believe they could have done better to avoid the long line. When at the counter the cashier was quite slow. The tables are placed closed to each other and the ventilation isn't that cold.

The sisig is great except that it has onions in it.(I hate onions btw.)Jackie and Dianne said the BBQ tasted good.I had the ginataang sitaw at kalabasa(the only vegetables that I eat). The kalabasa was ok, but the sitaw is quite raw(I think), being crunchy and all.But it tasted good.Much like how we cook it at home.

So here are our pics in Aling Lucing's
